CarrotBombing really supports the graffiti scene here in the Philippines, and Mr.Carrotz gives you a dose of funnies towards customer service, to gangsters, punks, and those who wanna buy cups, instead of caps. Well here's Mr. Trip's interview for Threedown, those who dont know the story behind CarrotBombing, read this and get schooled. Peace!

1. Why call your shop carrot bombing?

When the idea of creating an online store came to me the first thing that hit me was to decide what name to use, i dont want to have a name that sound so serious, i want a name that will have a twist in it, besides when i created the store the plan was to sell not just graffiti supplies but art toys as well, stuff from secret fresh since im part of the in house artists of secret fresh, im in this group called Movement 69 (movement69.weebly.com) , bigboy , the boss man of secret fresh allowed me to resell stuff from them . i had to choose from 2 names...one is carrot bombing ..it came from some of my designs on art toys I was commissioned to paint and the other name was 7deadhamsters, a tribute to my 7 dead hamsters........on July 2010 I decided to use CARROTBOMBING.

2. how do you feel to be the first graffiti supply store in the philippines?

Actually im not the first one to sell graffiti stuff, homeboy CHi from blackbook design was the one who introduced and sell ironlak here in the PI, Kaz/Uso was the first one to sell those scotch caps ...it just so happened im the first online store that carried more graffiti supplies and sell different brands of imported cans, markers, caps, apparel etc...

3. Is it hard to run the shop in the Philippines? why?

Fuck yeah, especially on the first few months of operation, a lot of new kids keeps asking me stupid nonsense questions, basic things that a writer should know like the difference between male and female caps. There was even an instance that I was blame by one of the customers of not telling him that the male cap will not work with our male local cans and was demanding a refund .

i created the store for the true writers/artists, the real ones and i dont mind bashing anyone in facebook if they ask me any stupid inquiry like info of what im selling, or price of the product, they can always check
www.carrotbombing.com then ask later if they cant find the answer from the site.

the market here aint that big since most of the writers/artists are students that cant afford designer cans so honestly I dont expect to earn a lot from the store, It's just I have a stable and good paying job thats why I can manage to run carrotbombing, if not I dont think carrotbombing will last for a couple of months. Most guys dont realize how costly it is to manage this store especially importing goods from abroad like shipping costs and all, for example my shipment this October will include Ironlak, fresh paint and all city cans, the shipping cost for all the goods is 15000++ pesos, that is just for shipping.

4. what can you say about the graffiti scene here in the philippines compared to other countries?
The graffiti scene in the PI is still young compared to other countries, though in a span of few years the movement here have grown so fast . Since i cater to the whole PI Im aware of whats happening all around the country, now its not just Manila or Cebu has their own scene, you can go to Iloilo, Bacolod, CDO, Davao, Tacloban and they have their own movement. Give the scene a few more years and you'll see all those new cats offerring different styles on the table.

i really dont mind on whats happening outside PI, what is important is what's happening here. I give props to the guys who revolutionize the style, I give mad respect to writers who step up and put bombing on a different level. Local writers nowadays are more bold compared to a few years back.

(Manong Fishball, and the man himself)

5. Shout-outs?

Big shout outs to all the guys, the real , the true , the struggling artists who keep supporting carrotbombing.
